Manglik – Harmartic

One year ago

KOLKATA: Rejected repeatedly by suitors, a 25-year-old ‘manglik’ girl committed suicide at her Ekbalpore home on Sunday afternoon. Sunita Jaiswal of Bhukailash Road was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room. Police said her parents were desperately trying for quite some time to fix her marriage but all the prospective grooms rejected her because she was ‘manglik’. A dejected Sunita killed herself, say police.

Manglik is a Vedic Astrological condition in the chart

Manglik Quoting from Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangal_Dosha

Mangal Dosha is an astrological combination that occurs if Mars is in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of the Vedic astrology Ascendant chart (In north India, 1st house is also considered in effect of this Dosha). A person born in the presence of this condition is termed a manglik.

This condition is believed by some superstitious people to be devastating for marriage, causing discomfort and tension in relationship, leading to separation, divorce and in some cases it is believed to cause untimely death of one spouse. This is attributed to the “fiery” nature of this planet. If two mangliks marry, the negative effects are believed to cancel each other out. (end quote)

The Manglik person seems to have a tragic life script according to the above article. A person with a tragic life plan is sometimes referred to as having the Hamartic Script in life.

The Hamartic Script which is described by Eric Berne in the Transactional Analysis modality tends to operate from a depressive life position. Having a belief in the astrological Manglia or that ones life is tragic – supports the life position  of  “I am not Ok and You’re Not Ok” or perhaps the “I am Not Ok and You’re Ok” position.

Either Manglik or Hamartic, the person with these kinds of beliefs in their life seems to be stuck. You may hear the person say “why do bad things always seem to happen to me” or “It is all you’re fault”

Franklin Ernst and his OK Coral – Life positions

It’s OK if one believes that they are Manglik or suffer from the Hamartic Script. I guess that is their life position!  One can do something with that kind of life or not.

Some Indian societies seem to place a great deal of faith in their destiny according to astrology. It is no different in western cultures where similar fatalistic beliefs about life occur. Perhaps westerners do this quite well on their own – without Astrology.

The OK Coral is an interesting cognitive device – it diagnoses, creates self awareness and inspires growth. Although in the short term we may “go in and then out” of the various OK/Not Ok sectors we will all have a main position that was decided earlier in life. In my view changing aspects of ones life  according to the OK Coral positions can be achieved over time. Even if the Tragic – Hamartic –  Manglik person finds a way to exist and enjoy their lives. It is tragic to believe that a person cannot change their life in some manner.

They say that one may nullify their Manglic destiny by marrying another Manglik. Some cultures have strong belief in particular ideas that sway life one way or the other.  Sometimes all it takes is a change of perspective to be in the OK –  OK Coral.
