The Constellation of Edith de Burgh

The many people who know Edith de Burgh will tell you about her unique sense of humour and great “Master of Ceremony” skills.  Edith is also a very good local Astrologer here in Perth Western Australia and a previous President of the FAAWA. I met up with Edith recently to interview her about things Astrological.

Ken:      I have to ask the penultimate question first Edith. How did you get in to Astrology, what triggered your journey to the Stars?

Edith:   “Well I have to tell you the story. It happened when I went to Myers where there was a book sale”.

Ken:     “Is it ok we get the short version Edith, I interrupted?”

Edith:    “It’s the story you see Ken; you see, I was in Myers and there was a 50% book sale so I went to investigate. There was the book by Robert Pelletier called ‘Be Your Own Astrologer’. I would never in a million years bought the book if not for the well discounted sale price. After reading Pelletier I turned towards Astrology with a passion. That was back in 1994 I think.”

Ken:      Do any of your children work with Astrology or what do they think about it all?

Edith:    I have four adult daughters and two daughters ask me about the ‘stars’ but they are not interested in the technical side to astrology. The other two do not think much of Astrology however they respect my work and studies.

Western Australian Astrologer Edith de Burgh

Ken:     Who is the one person that imparted greatest influence on you as an Astrologer?

Edith:     I would have to say Bernadette Brady had the greatest influence on me. I did my basic certificate and then professional certificate with Bernadette through her school Astro Logos. I also tackled the Post Graduate Medieval Course and intend to go on with my Horary Masters qualifications with Deborah Houlding.

Ken:     What is your favourite point in Astrology, you know; technique or Planet, Midpoints, Synastry or Asteroids etc?

Edith:  (After pondering the question for a few whiles) “The Ascendant! And funnily enough that is connected to one of my pet hates too. I dislike the phrase many Astrologers use about the Ascendant; I dislike the phrase ‘The mask we put on’.

Say if person was going out for the night, they put on a coat hat and lipstick, “Oh bugger nearly I forgot my ascendant”.  What mask shall I put on? The Ascendant in my opinion is the most important point in the chart.

Ken:     If you were going to be a tour guide of the Cosmos according to Astrology, where would you start first in the skies?

Edith:   I have a soft spot for the Plato and Aristotelian system, (Philosophy) I would go to the Preventional or Conjunctional Moon in the chart first.

Ken:     Do you think that temperaments of personality such as humour and seriousness can be found in the chart? What about sexual diversity?

Edith:    Yes, I think you can see these things in the chart.

Ken:       How has the Internet influenced you and Astrology Edith? I know that you are reasonably isolated living in rural areas.

Edith:     The internet has influenced my Astrology very little. I often go to Deborah Houlding’s site, Skyscript because its suits my style of Traditional Astrology. Most of my assignments through Astro Logos School were sent by normal snail mail, however later in the piece I would use email to communicate. I am old fashioned, traditional and like the use of pen and pencil. Call me Saturnian if you will.

Ken:   Has becoming an Astrologer helped you evolve as a person?

Edith:  Yes! Triple yes! Astrology has given me a great appreciation of peoples ‘underbelly’ and their weaknesses. Personally, it’s helped to make me more empathic versus judgemental. The by-product of studying Astrology has improved my general knowledge greatly. I would never have known so much about MGM and Charlie Chaplin. I have studied things that I would have never ever gone into.

One of my main resources was the twenty six volumes of Encyclopaedia Britannica because there was no internet, not even a computer to begin with. I did all my charts by hand using a pencil and tables.

In 1999 we got our first computer so before then everything was calculated by hand, even progressions and directions.

Ken:   What is your favourite Constellation or Star?

Edith:  I am not sure that I have a favourite Star or Constellation; however a favourite would have to be old Saturn, Cronus, mainly because I have “lived” with Saturn.

When I grow up I want to teach Astrology .

Edith is a very busy woman these days and can be found working at the Gravity Centre in Gin Gin on some days, the Government on other days and runs a Bio dynamic Farm with her partner Sid. Edith loves her Astrology and in my view, embraces and harnesses the Saturnian influences very well in her life. Thank you Edith for sharing your love of Astrology with us.

The Eclipsed Middle East

Ahmaed Jaabari’s Bombed Car Last Week

Last week on my Kingsley Facebook page I wrote about the Scorpio New Moon and how Mars going into Capricorn signified war ahead. I was particularly interested in the eclipse degree because it was transiting my own North Node degree. Eclipses in general can “open up the fabric of time” to manifest literal experiences and events that span across the borders of time. What I mean by this, is that the Nodal Axis has no relative time and instead breaches into history and beyond while shaping lives into the future.

As a consequence of the Eclipse on my North Node life opened up in some ways for me, of which I wont go into here. I can tell you that new directions in line with my karmic path did manifest. While presenting at my local Astrology Association yesterday I happened to realise that Prince Charles has the Sun at the same Scorpio Eclipse degree. With further investigation into the escalation of fighting in the middle east I pulled up the Palestinian Chart for 1988 Independence Proclamation Chart To see the Sun degree is also at twenty two Scorpio.

The main features when you see this particular overlay of the Eclipse chart, are the outer planets Pluto and Uranus on the fourth and seventh angles. Uranus has been stirring the natal Mars, while Pluto is sinking to unfathomable depths over the natal Neptune. Mars will join transiting Pluto this week on the fourth cusp in a cruel and harmful expression.

It was only hours after the Eclipse last Wednesday that the first salvos and escalation war were fired. You can also see Mars the ruler of Scorpio transiting Saturn and Uranus in this chart. The Mars = Saturn/Uranus description refers to “an act of violence, a violent or forced release from tensions, the stage of challenging others for a decisive contest or challenge”.

Traditionally, when Mars goes into Capricorn it can mean “soldiering up” and the act of War. In this case the ruler of the Eclipse, Mars ingress to Capricorn only days after the Eclipse. Since last week there have been numerous attacks by both Palestine and Israel with the notable killing of Ahmaed Jaabari by the Israelis. Israeli websites have also been hit by 44 million cyber attacks since the Gaza operation started. I hear that today there have been more deaths and bombing by each side as the escalation of war seems to continue.

In the global mundane charts and the charts of Kings and Queens, eclipses have special meanings especially when the eclipse degree triggers off  planetary positions. The other trigger for eclipses are when transiting planets and points move over the eclipse degree some time later and over a six month period. This week Mercury retrogrades over the 22 Scorpio degree and in late January the Nodes also back onto the same degree in Scorpio. The latter transit of the North Node will be the one to watch next year in the case of the war in the Middle East and with regards to the Royal Family concerning the arrangement between Charles and Queen Elizabeth the Second.

Solar Eclipse and Natal Nodes

For those born around March 1957, November 1975 and June 1994 the Eclipse tomorrow has special relevance. When we think about soul life and realms beyond our normal grasp you might consider the Solar Eclipse combined with the natal Nodes.

The cosmic timing is proffering the return of the Nodal axis after nineteen years through the constellations for the above people. This event and refreshed cycle of life doesn’t come without its transitions but to be celebrated by an Eclipse on the Nodes one was born to, has a greater meaning.

An Eclipse on a planet or angle in the chart is significant enough however when the Nodes are involved there is an opening up of time and space. Glimpses of ones soul life emerge through the Nodes because they have no relevant time frame between past and future lives. Sometimes the past is helpful to understand ones direction forward and glimpses of future lives places the pieces of the past to rest.

Image
Perhaps my writing about soul life brings ghostly like images that have no relevance to the mundane and practical worlds? However to consider other dimensions, spirits and gods is an openness to the significance of the New Moon rising now.

There are many many people with their Nodes positioned around 22 Scorpio and many more within the few degrees of orb that this Eclipse would affect. Not everyone is going to experience an opening up or kundalini like experience with their soul life. Not everyone would know what that experience might look like!

My Nodes are at 22 Scorpio and I know a Mother with her Moon at 22 Scorpio connecting to the Nodes of her daughter and son who are born in separate nodal cycles. I know a few Scorpio Ascendant types which this Eclipse will straddle.

Sometimes lives are interconnected in this way bringing the sense of family or community of souls together. It might be interesting for Astrologers to search through their files for 22 degrees Scorpio Nodes to at least observe from a distance, any meanings that have relevance.

Eclipses bring matters to a head and whether that experience has already happened or about to occur, these cosmic timings can be somewhat broad. Never the less, the Soul Life and perturbations between one life and another are “ripe” for exchange.

If you fit into this Nodal age I am proposing, or you have angles and planets conjunct, opposite or square the Eclipse, consider your position in life and be open to the signs that connect you across the dimensions of lives.

Maybe you will even see a ghost from your past.

Cosmic Cogs

The Cosmic Cogs are the planets moving predictably through time and reflecting Astrological insights to humans on earth. Its quite a significant time piece when you think about it.

As the various cogs and wheels of the solar system click and whir so do our lives. Unlike the predictability of Planetary behaviours, each and every individual human has a way of creating and changing the cycles in their lives. We can use Planetary symbolism and other Astrological techniques to assess and create interventions in a conscious life. The structure of the “Cosmic Gearing” over the next few weeks is quite considerable for Global events and less so for individuals unless natal points are affected.

In about one week the Sun will move into Scorpio and rendezvous with Saturn. Saturn speaks of governments and other structures that are all important to us all. With that in mind and knowing that its hard to ignore the US Presidential Elections on the 6 November, perhaps other astrological indicators are showing certain “writings on the wall”?

Mercury goes retrograde on the 6th November which is the date for the elections in The United States. Mercury takes a week to retrograde back into Scorpio and history shows this phenomenon means a degree of disruption and chaos. Remembering the 2000 election where there was recount after and recount in the voting there. In the 2000 US elections Mercury was in its last days of retrograde and it went forward, changing Signs between Scorpio and Libra in a very short time frame. According to the “Stars” there will be considerable changes occurring between the weeks of 6 November and 15 November for all of us.

On the 13th November within the above time frame there is a Solar Eclipse at 22 Scorpio which is bang on the Fixed Star, Unukalhai in the Serpens Constellation. Eclipses are the bearers of global change and which hold significant meanings for our world leaders. Unfortunately this particular fixed star has somewhat sinister connotations. Whether the Cosmic Gearing clunking over the next few weeks says anything sinister about US Elections I dont know, however one can assume that these reflections in the sky’s point to a considerable turn of events that we all connect to.

The Eclipse lines for the 13th of November shows the top end of Australia and Queensland involved, also New Zealand again and towards South America. The timing for manifestations of events stemming from Eclipses are notoriously difficult. One can work with a three week period either side of the eclipse or when a planet transits the exact eclipse degree, months later.

We enter into some interesting Astrological times of which bring creative change, replenished life, new and completed life cycles and rich experiences for all of us.

The Planets and Black Moon Lilith

Black Moon Lilith

Black Moon Lilith is a mysterious Astrological point which is not easy to put ones finger on. The Astronomy in simplistic terms, the BML is the Moons furthest point in its orbit around earth. The Moons orbit is elliptical and therefore its path around the Earth each month has two distinct points. One point in the orbit is the closest distance to earth, called the Perigee and the furthest point in the orbit, called the Apogee. It is important that one works with the True and oscillating Lilith point rather than the “mean Lilith” calculation to achieve an accurate representation of any aspects to other planets.

The Astrological and psychological descriptive meanings of Black Moon Lilith can refer to various cultural mythologies pertaining to somewhat darker references of life. Some myths describe how there is a crisis during the creative beginnings of life on Earth in the Garden of Eden. Apparently Adam’s first wife was Lilith and that didn’t go very well.

In essence however the Black Moon Lilith point describes a part of personality that is not only outside of one’s awareness but buried deep in the subconscious realms of the psyche. Like Adam and Lilith in the creative beginnings, there are signs that Lilith has her place in early developmental life. Although “Lilith” in personality is described as repressed, “she” becomes overtly active in thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

The Planetary aspects to Black Moon Lilith are strongest when Conjunctions within a few degrees are noted. Each planet connected to Lilith will have both creative and destructive descriptions which mainly relate to personality and behaviours. Perhaps the following very brief outlines of Lilith and the Planets will be a starting point for the “discovery of the dark”?

Moon Lilith         Dysfunctional emotional expression and highly intuitive sensing skills

Sun Lilith             Inconsistency of Identity, authoritative inflexible and dependable characters

Mercury Lilith    Blocks to processing facts and figures, highly creative minds and comedians

Venus Lilith        Possessiveness and attachment dysfunction, creative use of relationships

Mars Lilith         Unstable high energy patterns, control, assertive and direct confrontational

Jupiter Lilith      Boundary concerns, prejudices and motivation to creative teaching methods

Saturn Lilith       Abusive captive syndromes, rigid authority, carers for aged and disabled

Uranus Lilith      Unbound psychic impulses, “crazy”, creative anarchy and inflexible individualism

Neptune Lilith   Lost, Schizoid types, de realisations, depersonalisations,  victims and impressionists creative abstractions.

Pluto Lilith     Drama and Intensity, destructive obsessiveness, control and intrinsic understanding of others psyche

Chapters even books could be written about each combination above. All descriptions involve boundary issues, psychological projections, dissociations, sexualisations, denials and extremely creative expressions and potentials of Lilith in personality, when a planet is in close aspect to Black Moon Lilith.

The conjunctions of Lilith to the Angles in the chart also imbue personality and the Natal expression.

New Energy Moon

The new Moon in Aries today marks the beginning of the lunar year. The Moon in Aries chart shows an increased energy flow, care of the cosmos.

Well it might just be Mercury and Uranus teaming up again for some inventive marketing strategies? Yes, unashamedly, a promotion of my very good Astrology Readings.

The bidding starts low compared to the full price so maybe this will be a good way to sample my readings?

Here is the link to Astrology by Kingsley’s Ebay site where you can make a bid.
