Scapist Goatism

All the astrological signs are represented by animal symbols. The sign of Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is represented by the symbol of the Goat. The qualities of the Capricorn sign do not however include the idea of “the scape goat”. Saturn is squaring off with Pluto which means there is a bit of push and shove over territorial rights.

The scape goat person tends to be expendable in the outcome of a dispute about territory. The scape goat will invariably end up on the “outside” while another person attempts to consolidate their own position.

Scapist Goatism

The social and political psychological games in Scapist Goatism usually involves a stage set for drama. No one really knows they are players in the “game” until there is an uncomfortable outcome.

The usual suspects in a good drama include the Victim, the Rescuer and the Persecutor. The Drama Triangle concept devised by Steve Karpman shows how co dependant issues play out in social interactions. The goal of the Victim is to enlist as many rescuers to support their “hard done by” position in life. The Victim needs a Persecutor in the system so that rescuers can align themselves with the Victim’s perceived persecution.

Unfortunately in the outcome of Scapist Goatism the Persecutor ends up as the Victim in the Drama Triangle and the Scape Goat. The co dependant person and all the enablers switch their roles to Persecutor by blaming the Persecutor for the Victims unfair position in life. There is much to and fro on behalf of the Victim setting up the stage to claim “victory”.  Perhaps its about the victim’s anger or their scare of being on their own. The victim wishes to find ways to maintain their reliance on others and avoid dealing directly with their issues.

Co dependency issues usually involve Venus and Neptune. Moon/Neptune represents the Victim while Saturn is the likely Persecutor. The Rescuer is someone in the helping field who supports an altruistic and egoic investment.  The rescuer is represented by a dysfunctional Sun in the astrology because their belief about self involves a care taking identity versus working out their own issues. Perhaps the rescuer is Sun/Neptune?

Pluto represents the psychological displacement and projection in such dramatic social games. PLuto the god of the underworld has a special hat that renders him invisible. Pluto represents the unconscious nature in which the players get drawn into the Drama Triangle.

The current aspect of Saturn square Pluto will undoubtably raise social and political games designed for maintaining ones territory. One could say that the psychological “drama” is just a coping mechanism – a defensive pattern when a challenge to ones position is perceived.

In Scapist Goatism the outcomes are all pretty crappy. Nobody really wins anything. If there is an initial feeling of relief for the victim after a game of Scapist Goatism it is usually short-lived. Eventually they revert back to same old the belief patterns which supports co dependency.

Reality Check

Recently I was in the Australian Capital Territory and the city of Canberra. Canberra is a unique place filled with a plethora of bureaucratic buildings including Australia’s Parliament House.

Parliament House overlooks the body of its many departmental buildings in a “paternal” and authoritative manner. I experienced a reality check while in Canberra which was insightful to understanding the approaching Saturn Pluto aspect.

Political clouds brewing between Saturn and Pluto

Although politics refers to the “behaviour within civil government”, politics has been observed in all human group interactions, including corporate, academic and religious institutions. It consists of “social relations involving authority or power” and refers to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy”.

Social politics involves our relationships to various groups or individuals. What about psychic politics and the intrapsychic relationship between various parts of personality? When two or more parts of personality engage in debate there is an internal psyche interaction. This internal speak is constantly occurring on structural levels in personality. When the conscious or subconscious psychic chatter becomes uncomfortable then a form of Cognitive Dissonance is occurring.

Saturn denotes the structural elements in our conscious psyche workings. Saturn defines our internal and external limits. Saturn represents the authoritative or parental part of personality pointing to the reality of matters.

Pluto represents the sub conscious workings of the internal structural  system. Pluto can also represent the way control and transformative elements work in the psyche. When Saturn and Pluto square off, our social – political experiences can also trigger off internal reality checks. Parts of the sub conscious mind attempt to emerge into awareness. Pluto however can either help or deny (control) the level of reality or awareness.

Whether ones intra psyche communication allows such a reality check to occur depends on the hierarchical system and the outcome of the cognitive dissonance. The Saturn square Pluto aspect usually results with some form of reality check “ready or not”. The struggle and political element is a kind of coercion for order and structure to the subconscious world.

Pluto is a powerful match for Saturn. The square aspect may result with either transformation through awareness or denial of ones reality.

The authoritative element in the psyche may be a laconic statement involved in the cognitive dissonance and attempting to coerce the system into a familiar belief structure such as “I am dumb”. The power within in the person may comply or argue against such a belief pattern though.

The idea of the Saturn square Pluto aspect relates to the stress of internal politicking and the potential realisation of such negative beliefs. They say that awareness is the first step towards transformation. People with Saturn Pluto aspects in their natal chart will acquiesce with this square aspect while others may not. There is always something to learn with Saturn.
